Check a single parallel-key torque connection for tangential force, key shear, bearing pressure, required effective length, torque capacity, gross-shaft torsional stress and basic hub/keyway geometry.
01Torque & shaft
Design torque = nominal transmitted torque × service factor. The tangential force at shaft radius is F = 2T/d. Gross-shaft torsional stress is shown only as a nominal reference; it does not include keyway stress concentration.
02Key geometry & allowables
Enter the actual standardized/project key dimensions. Effective bearing height is the contact height used by your chosen design method; MD-003 does not assume that the full key height carries uniform bearing pressure.
03Hub geometry
These are geometry sanity checks only. Positive wall thickness does not prove hub strength; hub splitting/bursting, local keyway stresses, fatigue and interference-fit stresses require separate analysis.
